Tiburon Golf Club, Florida

Tiburon GC, near Naples, Florida, is a stunning Greg Norman designed course that plays host to the annual PGA Tour QBE Shootout and LPGA CME Group Tour Championship. The Gold Course displays bold sod wall bunker edges (Scottish golfers might use the term ‘revetted’) which have become a highly respected and recognisable trademark of many Norman designs. During a course renovation in 2015 & 2016 the club decided to upgrade from natural sod walls (which are expensive to maintain) to a synthetic alternative. In 2017, Irma, a Category 2 hurricane when it passed over Tiburon, caused significant further damage to the bunker walls. The club noticed that none of the numerous EcoBunker projects in the USA had suffered any damage. Soon afterwards Tiburon made the decision to demolish the previous installed system and replace it with the EcoBunker’s Patent Pending Advanced system. Installed in 2018, the system is working perfectly today and gains great praise from the world’s best golfers who regularly play on the course.
